Pressing counts are a decent proxy for what people own: the albums at the top of the table sold in huge numbers, which means ordinary copies are common — and the premium sits in their earliest pressings, imports and limited variants, not in the title itself.
The pattern to remember: an original pressing was made once, in one plant, in one run. Every year that passes removes clean copies from circulation. Reissues can be repressed whenever demand justifies it, so age alone never makes a Prince record valuable — the specific pressing and its condition do.
